Many members of the SHARE platform participated last Saturday 13th March in the Safecast 10th anniversary.

Safecast organised a day long global online event to give updates about the project, the Fukushima situation, the importance of open data, information of new initiatives and reflect on the lessons of the momentous past decade. Invited guests joined online from around the globe to comment and discuss major topics, with musical interludes and video reports.
Our vice-president, Tanja Perko gave a short presentation in the round table on “how has Safecast influenced research, policies and practices in emergency management“, moderated by Catrinel Turcanu. In the round table moderated by Claire Mays, Gaston Meskens and Nadja Zeleznik discussed about “how citizen science can foster transparency, ethics and social responsibility“. Joke Kenens also participated in the discussion on “citizen science and perspectives on Safecast: How has Safecast been a model for others?“. Michiel Van Oudheusden. had a conversation with one of the organisers, Louise Elstow,  reflecting on how Safecast travels and discussing the spread of data, devices, ideas and people. The SHARE secretary, Meritxell Martell, provided technical support to the event behind the scenes. Many other SHARE members followed the event as attendees, asking questions and providing comments.
The recordings of the sessions in which SHARE members gave a presentation are available at this link.
